About ELENA BARBERÀ

Doctor in Psychology from the University of Barcelona (1995) she received an extraordinary award for her doctoral thesis.

She is currently full professor of the Studies of Psychology and Educational Sciences at the Universitat de Catalunya in Barcelona (Spain). She was recently head of the Doctoral Program in ICT and Education on this university for ten years. She was also an adjunct professor for the international doctorate in Nova Southeastern University in Florida (USA) for more than 10 years.

Her research activity is specialised in the area of educational psychology, a field in which she has several publications, conferences and educational courses, relating in particular to knowledge-construction processes and educational interaction in e-learning environments, evaluating educational quality and assessing learning, distance learning using ICT and teaching and learning strategies.

As head of the EDUS (Distance School and University Education) research group, which is linked to the eLearn Center, she participates in various national and international projects related to electronic learning and student assessment.

Teacher training courses for university lecturers in subjects connected with online education and the assessment of online learning in Spanish and overseas universities since 2000 include: UPC, UAB, UB, UdG, URL, UIC, ULPGC, UPB, UCLM, UAH, UIB and UAM in Spain; ULA, UNET, UCV, UNICA, UNA in Venezuela; UNAM and UNuevo León in Mexico and PUC, UVP and U. las Americas, in Chile; UNED in Costa Rica, among others. In the framework of international distance education and technology associations: RUEDA (Argentina), AVED (Venezuela).

She is an external and independent evaluator of research projects promoted by the European Union (e-learning programme) and collaborates with international organisations in developing knowledge (IASTED Switzerland and Canada) by organising congresses and international awards as a member of the Technical Committee on Education.
